Why should you come to the event?
Ms. Ionova will be performing at the University of Florida's University Auditorium on Sunday, March 1st from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a benefit concert sponsored by the Russian Studies Department at UF.
While being a familiar face on the Russian opera stage, Ms. Ionova's debut performance in the United States will be a benefit event to raise money for the Russian Studies Department.
Her classical operatic repertoire will be accompanied by pianist Roberta Swedien.
This performance will be the final event of Russian club's"Russian Week" or "Spring Festival."Why should YOU go: All proceeds from the performance will benefit the UF Russian Studies Program and its students.

Bio
Olga Ionova (soprano) studied choral conducting and singing at the Alfred Schnitke Moscow Music College (graduated in 1992). In 1997, she graduated from the Choral Conducting Department (Professor Lyudmila Ermakova's class) of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, and in 2000 - the Opera Singing Department of the conservatory (Professor Klara Kadinskaya's class).
Olga attended master-classes in Amsterdam (Netherlands).
Olga Ionova cooperated with the Musica Viva Academic Symphony Orchestra directed by Alexander Rudin, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Russian State Academic Symphony Choir directed by Valery Polyansky and other orchestras. She sang solo parts in Bach's Mass in B minor, Haydn's Nelson Mass and Theresienmesse, Mozart's Mass in C minor, Rachmaninov's opera Francesca da Rimini, etc.
In 2001, Olga Ionova made her debut in the Novaya Opera. The singer made her debut at the Bolshoi Theatre with the part of Pamina (Mozart's The Magic Flute) in the 2005/06 season and the part of Xenia (Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov) in the 2006/07 season. In 1995, she gave concerts in Europe, performing cantatas and oratorios by Mozart, Handel, Purcell, and Sarti. Olga also performs vocal music by modern composers.
Olga Ionova takes part in festivals. In 2005, she performed the part of Lavinia in Sarti's opera Aeneas in Latium at a music festival in Touques (France) and the part of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto at a festival in Perm (conductor Sergey Stadler). She participated in the Blossoming Wild Rosemary festival in Ulan-Ude and Chita in 2006, and the Moscow Easter Festival in 2006.
Olga has recorded a number of CDs, including a collection of organ music by Valery Kikta (2003).
